Wirenet Amiga Internet

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you provide registered software?
We do not. There are two reasons for this. The first is that we make no charge for the software we supply, adding registered versions would change this.
Secondly, by including, and charging you for, the software we we would either be limiting your further choice or adding unnecessary expense.
The software we provide is fully functional, yet you are free to experiment with alternatives before deciding which suits your personal needs and preferences.

Do I have to use the software you provide?
No, you can use any software you like. We provide a pack that contains all you need for the main Internet functions, but you are free to try out and use alternative or additional software as you wish.

When is customer support available?
Telephone support is provided for help with basic connection problems at the following times:
Monday - Friday: 9am until 7pm
Saturday: 9am until 1pm
Support is provided via email at these and other times, and is more suitable for dealing with in-depth matters.

What can I use my web space for?
Anything legal, such as personal pages, business use, file transfer etc. You have 25MB to use however you wish.

Can I use CGI scripts with my web space?
You can use scripts, but you cannot store them in your web space (for security reasons). There are a number of scripts provided for your use and you can also link to any scripts available elsewhere.

How many newsgroups do you provide?
We currently provide over 36,000 newsgroups, with more being added every day. This is a full feed and news is considered a high-priority service.

Can I only use an Amiga on a Wirenet account?
The accounts we provide are standard dialup accounts, many of our subscribers also access their accounts using other platforms, such as from work. Only the software and support we provide are Amiga-specific. You can use any Internet capable computer to access your account, and support is available from U-Net if you need help connecting with a PC, Mac or Unix machine.
